Alexa loves... Knitwear

It's not very often that we get many exciting fashion exhibitions in Barnsley but from the 5th of September until the 14th of November the Barnsley Civic will be home to the fashion exhibition Knitwear: Chanel to Westwood.

When you think knitting you usually just think of big wooly jumpers and cardigans but this exhibition shows you not only the different types of clothing that are knitted but the different types of fabric used to knit with. Pieces by Julien Macdonald show the interesting looks you can create by using different materials rather than the usual wool you would use at home.

The exhibition pieces were mainly displayed in different crates. This gave the idea that they had been in storage, like this since the times they had been created and just opened up now to be displayed together. Like a looking through a window in time.

It was wonderful to see such a beautiful collection of knitwear by so many amazing designers. Seeing original Chanel pieces was fabulous.

Knitwear: Chanel to Westwood exibition at the Barnsely Civic. Entry is free and it is on from the 5th of September until the 14th of November.
