Alexa loves... A Midsummer Nights Dream 1999

If you haven't already seen it I recommend watching William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Nights Dream. Not only is it a wonderful version of the play but it also has beautiful costumes which I have looked at to inspire some of my designs.

The audience look towards the faces of actors for experision, as well as at their bodies, so to frame the face with a statement neckline such as this would be great as it draws the attention in. Therefore I designed some dresses with statement necklines myself.

I also looked into other costumes worn by Titania in different shows.

The tasseles on the image second to the right inspired me to experiment with the idea of dangling tassels.

I looked at using beading for the tassels to give an expensive royal feel to the costume designs, as Titania is the queen of the fairies.

I also was also inspired by nature as the play is set in a forest so I have decided that I want to use flowers in my designs and I will research them.
